Ever since you were born, your mind has been working on completely different levels. Conscious, subconscious and super conscious (but that last one has to do with the laws of quantum physics, so let's leave that one alone for now - unless you want to find out, in which case get yourself a copy of "What The Bleep Do We Know?" on book or DVD). The conscious mind deals with normal, everyday activities. It's reading this page now. It can do around 7 things at once. On a good day. If you're lucky.

The job of your subconscious is to protect you. It is capable of billions of functions at once and is, so far, the most powerful thing we've discovered in our universe. It has been designed to protect you from 2 things. Physical danger and emotional pain.

To protect you from physical danger is simple. It's called common sense. (Don't close your eyes when you're crossing the road!). Lessons you teach your subconscious that will keep you alive in the future.

To protect your emotions is a little different. If your subconscious mind sees you in a position of emotional pain (in this case, exam anxiety) it will respond to that as an actual physical threat to you (the same way a scary movie can make you jump - the subconscious cannot tell the difference between real and imagined). It will release inside you adrenaline in the form of epinephrine from the adrenal glands on top of your kidneys. We call this "the fight or flight response". If you don't deal with this adrenaline rush, it metamorphoses in your brain to a chemical called Cortisol, which is a pure stress hormone.

Understanding this negative emotional response (anxiety) toward exams, the subconscious will do its utmost to protect you from experiencing those negative emotions. Although the subconscious mind is at least one billion times as powerful as the conscious mind, it is also very lazy and will take the path of least possible resistance to achieve its aim. When it sees you associating exams with anxiety, the subconscious will flood thoughts into your mind, such as "I can't do this, it's too hard, I'm no good at this, I can study tomorrow, I need to check Facebook, I'll clean my room, it's too late, it's too early, it's too hot, it's too cold, I'm too busy, I'm too tired, I'll only fail anyway, so what's the point?

In keeping you away from the study, the subconscious mind actually believes it's protecting you from experiencing those negative emotions that have now been associated with study and the taking of the exam. It cannot see that it is creating a negative emotion (frustration) to keep you away from a negative emotion (anxiety); all it can see is that there is a means to an end and it will take it.

This CD will allow the subconscious mind to re-boot the computer. To begin to associate the exam with a feeling of confidence and pleasure, the chance you have to show people that you know what you know you know! Once your subconscious mind begins to associate study and the taking of the exam with a positive emotion, it will naturally push you toward it to experience that good feeling again.
